FAQS

We know starting a construction project comes with a lot of questions, and we want to make sure you feel confident every step of the way. This page covers some of the most common things our clients ask before, during, and after their projects. If you don’t see your question here, just reach out; we’re always happy to help!

We want you to feel secure, so we carry General Liability Insurance, Workers’ Compensation, Commercial Auto Insurance, and an Umbrella policy. These policies are designed to protect both you and your property from any claims of injury or property damage that could occur on your premises.

We love keeping our clients in the loop! We use all kinds of communication methods, such as email, text, phone calls, and face-to-face meetings. Our goal is to reach out every day while your project is underway. Some phases may require less communication, so you might not hear from us every single day, but we make sure to provide weekly updates on how things are progressing.

Absolutely! Once we sign the contract, we create a detailed schedule that breaks down the project phase by phase. We’ll be happy to share a copy with you so you know what to expect.

Changes can happen, and we understand! Just keep in mind that adjustments can become more costly as the project progresses. The timing and nature of the change will determine if there’s an extra charge. We encourage you to think through as many details as possible before we start to minimize any changes. If a change is needed, we’ll work out the new pricing and provide you with a change order for your approval. Once it’s approved, we’ll update your payment schedule and keep things moving!

There are just a couple of reasons your contract price might go up: if you request a change or if something unexpected comes up. With new constructions, surprises usually aren’t a big issue, but with remodels, sometimes we find things like termites or old wiring. If that happens, we’ll present the options to you and help you decide on the best way forward.

We aim to create a clear and detailed agreement that outlines all the tasks we’ll be handling. If something isn’t listed in this agreement, it’s not included in the price we quoted. That said, any unexpected costs that arise will be additional for you. For example, if Oncor charges for extra underground wiring, that cost would be something you’ll handle directly with them.

We have our own talented team for drafting and design, and we love to get involved in the early stages of your project! The sooner we can collaborate, the better we can help you navigate the design process. This teamwork allows us to catch any potential issues early, making everything smoother for you. Plus, having a designer on board makes picking out selections a breeze, ultimately enhancing the finished look of your project!

Our visits to the job site can vary depending on the project’s stage and complexity. We strive to be there at least once a day. During more intricate phases, we might stop by multiple times a day to check in on our skilled crews. For simpler tasks, like drywall installation, our visits might be less frequent, maybe once a day, or sometimes we may skip a day. Rest assured, we’re dedicated to making sure your project is progressing smoothly!

There are various reasons for this, some planned and some not. For example, we might create intentional breaks for things like drying time or inspections. Weather or material delays can also play a part.

Additionally, our crews are often scheduled weeks in advance. So if our concrete crew finishes ahead of schedule, we might not be able to move the framing crew up immediately if they’re still working on another project.

Please don’t worry if you see some inactive days; we are hard at work getting your project wrapped up as quickly as possible!

While we don’t have a General Contractor’s license, it’s worth noting that Texas doesn’t issue licenses for General Contractors. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) offers licenses for HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing work, which can lead to some confusion since licensing varies from state to state.

Permit requirements depend on where your project is located. In our area, unless you’re within city limits, permits typically aren’t needed. Out in the county, you probably won’t need to worry about permits at all! If permits do come into play, we’ll take care of pulling them for you, so you can focus on enjoying the process!
